AcuPulse™ CO2 Fraxel Laser at DermAesthetics

What is AcuPulse™ CO2 Fraxel Laser?

AcuPulse™ by Lumenis™ is an advanced CO2 laser system designed for skin rejuvenation and scar reduction. It offers adjustable intensity to suit various skin types and expected results.

Clinical Applications

- Reversal of Photo-Damage: Effective for treating sun-damaged skin.

- Reduction of Facial Lines and Wrinkles: Addresses fine lines and deeper wrinkles.

- Pigmentation and Sunspots: Corrects uneven skin tone and pigmentation.

- Scar Treatment: Effective for acne scars, surgical scars, and stretch marks.

- Moles and Skin Tags: Safely removes benign skin lesions.

- Surgical Applications: Utilised in procedures such as blepharoplasty and labiaplasty.

How AcuPulse™ CO2 Fraxel Laser Works

The CO2 laser targets the water content in the skin, creating controlled thermal injury zones while leaving surrounding tissue intact. This process stimulates the body's natural healing response, promoting collagen and elastin production.

What to Expect

Consultation and Treatment Planning: During your consultation, our clinicians will evaluate your skin condition and discuss treatment goals. A personalised treatment plan will be developed, outlining the procedure, expected outcomes, and potential risks.

Procedure: The duration of the procedure varies based on the treatment area. A numbing cream is applied beforehand to reduce discomfort. The laser treatment itself involves creating micro-injuries in the skin to stimulate collagen production and skin renewal.

Recovery: Recovery time can vary from a few days to several weeks, depending on the depth of the treatment. Detailed post-treatment care instructions will be provided to support your healing process.

Potential Risks and Considerations

All cosmetic procedures carry potential risks, and it is important to have a thorough understanding of these before proceeding with treatment. Our experienced practitioners will discuss these risks in detail during your consultation. Potential risks include:

- Infection: As with any procedure that involves the skin, there is a risk of infection. Following post-treatment care instructions can help minimise this risk.

- Changes in Pigmentation: The treated area may become either lighter (hypopigmentation) or darker (hyperpigmentation) than the surrounding skin. This risk is higher for individuals with darker skin tones.

- Scarring: Although rare, there is a potential risk of scarring. Proper care and following post-treatment guidelines can reduce this risk.

- Redness and Swelling: Redness and swelling are common after laser treatments and usually subside within a few days to a week.

- Discomfort: Some patients may experience discomfort during and after the procedure, which can be managed with prescribed medications.

- Allergic Reactions: Allergic reactions to the numbing cream or other materials used during the procedure can occur.
